Lefkada
An island that feels far away — but is surprisingly close.
Lefkada is one of those rare places where everything seems to come together: incredible beaches, clear blue water, lush green mountains, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. It’s part of the Ionian Islands, but unlike most Greek islands, you don’t need a ferry to get here — just drive across the floating bridge from the mainland, and you’re there.
Even though it’s easy to reach, Lefkada still feels untouched in many ways. You’ll find traditional villages where time slows down, beach bars with a view, and quiet roads that lead to small coves and cliffside lookouts. Some of the most famous beaches in Greece — like Porto Katsiki, Egremni, and Kathisma — are right here, with that electric blue sea that makes people fall in love with the island.
But Lefkada isn’t just about the beach. You can explore mountain trails, go windsurfing or sailing, visit family-run tavernas, or simply do nothing at all. The pace of life is slow, the scenery is beautiful in every direction, and every sunset feels like a small event.
Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, Lefkada has a way of making you want to stay a little longer.
What to do
Just a glimpse of the captivating places waiting for you to explore!
Swim in Crystal Clear Waters
Whether it’s a quick dip at the beach in Nikiana or a day trip to the west coast, Lefkada’s waters are always inviting. Calm seas on the east side make it perfect for families, while the west coast is home to some of the most breathtaking beaches in the country.
Take a Boat Trip
Daily cruises leave from nearby Nidri and explore the smaller islands around Lefkada, like Meganisi and Skorpios. It’s a great way to see hidden coves, swim off the boat, and enjoy the coastline from the sea.
Try Local Food
From fresh seafood in coastal tavernas to traditional dishes in the mountain villages, Lefkada offers plenty of tasty options. Don’t miss local specialties like “savoro” fish or lentils from Eglouvi.
Visit a Waterfall
Just outside Nidri, the Dimosari Waterfalls offer a refreshing change of scenery. The short trail is easy to follow, and during spring and early summer, the falls flow beautifully.

Nikiana
A small, quiet fishing village where you can enjoy the sea without the crowds. It’s ideal for a peaceful stay, with a handful of tavernas, a marina, and a relaxed, local vibe.

The island’s capital is a great place for an evening stroll. Walk along the marina, explore the small alleys, or enjoy dinner in one of the cozy restaurants. It’s lively, especially in the summer months, but still feels authentic.

Probably the most famous beach on the island — and for good reason. Surrounded by cliffs and with unreal blue water, it’s a must-see, especially if you’re visiting the west coast.
